Mackinac area

Yesterday we drove up to camp just south of the Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw) bridge. We are going to stay here through the weekend. Our only plans are to visit Mackinac Island for one whole day, and play some golf, and just goof off. We found a deserted beach last evening that faced west, and just sat there in the truck waiting for the sunset. It was pretty, but not the spectacular scene we had hoped for. We will have many more opportunities and hopefully one will amaze us.

We are parked about 100 yards from the west shore of Lake Huron. When we walk to the water, we have a perfect view of the Mackinac Bridge. I hope to get a good picture with the morning sun shining on it. Sandy's back was a little twitchy this morning, so she has opted to not go to the Island today. I guess I'll go play golf this morning and maybe she will be better this afternoon.

I'll start giving a weather report periodically for a while. It is so different from Houston up here. August 7, 2008; Hi today 74, low tonight 57. Slight chance of afternoon sprinkles, otherwise partly cloudy.
