We got home and Gustov missed us. Hurrticane Ike didn't miss us. The eye went right over our house. The eye went right over most of Houston, as it was about 50 miles wide. Lots of damage in the general area near the ocean, but we had no damage to the house. There was some damage to our trees, but nothing that won't grow back. We were in a mandatory evacuation zip code south of Houston, but most people didn't leave. We would not have evacuated, but I believed that the travel trailer would not survive the hurricane. We traveled west far enough to get out of strong winds, and came home two days after the hurricane hit land.
So, this is the last post for our summer trip. It was shorter than we expected, but was still a good trip. We don't know where we will be going next summer. If the current economic situation eventually causes a strong recession, we may just stay home for a while until things get better. However, we are going to travel as much as we can while we are still physically able to do it. That may not last much longer for Sandy. Dutch
